LIMBO Review

If you hold interest in indie game department, you have probably already heard about LIMBO. It has made a huge mess in the independent studios department when it was released back in 2010. LIMBO was a big surprise hit to the market, and even though it was only available at one platform (Xbox Live Marketplace) back then, it has made its way to the other game machines soon enough for people to still be willing to try it out. LIMBO made a huge success and soon you will know why. Enjoy the review!

Let’s talk about the graphics first. They are what makes this game so unique and fun to play. The art style is kept in black and white tones, creating a somewhat dark and evil mood through the whole playthrought, really making up for the whole plot. While you play, you find yourself diving deep into the game and actually “feeling” the little boy that we control while playing. You find yourself immersed in the plot and that’s a really great thing to say, as the graphics aren’t even that complicated. A good reason alone to buy the game!

The gameplay behind the game is pretty simple. All we have to do is go forward with the boy that we control, either with a keyboard or a pad. That may sound simple, but the road is filled with deadly traps, puzzles and many other things that will try to stop us from going on. There’s no penalty for dying here, and it was a good choice by the creators – you will die, and you will die often in LIMBO. Even the developers themselves call the game “trial and death” game. It won’t be usual for you to die few  times before you finally solve one of the puzzles. While that may seem frustrating at the beginning, you will yourself quickly disregarding and just moving on while playing.

At the moment, the game is available on all the major platforms, so you can take it with yourself and immerse yourself in LIMBO wherever you go. You can pick it up on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, your own PC through Steam, on your Mac, Linux computer, even OnLive platform. When you want to play on the go, you can grab it on your PlayStation Vita or iOS device – they will all be capable to run LIMBO.

We believe LIMBO is a game that you can’t miss out on – it’s extremely addicting to play and you won’t mind the 10$ (you can buy it here) you spent on it after trying it out – we can guarantee it.
